The revelation comes from @FrontTron on Twitter (via), who has a good track record of Samsung-related leaks. This aligns with previous reports claiming that the Galaxy S22 Ultra would feature an S Pen slot. Regardless, it’s still too early in the day to say anything definitively. Keeping this in mind, we encourage you to take this with a pinch of salt. But if true, this could formally mark the demise of the “Ultra” variants of Galaxy flagships. It would also allow Samsung to market the Note branding. The eagerness for a Galaxy Note flagship is relatively high since Samsung decided to skip the Galaxy Note 20 successor this year. Instead, the company unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 during its August launch event.

Older reports suggest that the upcoming “Ultra” flagship would feature an S Pen slot

It’s worth pointing out that the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 support the S Pen stylus. However, they don’t offer a built-in slot to accommodate the stylus. It seems like that’s changing with the Galaxy S22 Note/Ultra. In addition to these features, the upcoming Galaxy S22 flagship would also bring the octa-core 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, coupled with 12 and 16GB RAM variants. Samsung could offer the flagship in 256 and 512GB storage variants, while the microSD card would be absent. In the camera department, the phone could offer a 108-megapixel primary sensor accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera and two telephoto sensors. The flagship would also bring a 5,000mAh battery plus 45W fast wired charging with a compatible adapter. 15W fast wireless charging should be supported as well. Expectedly, the device would also offer reverse wireless charging like its predecessor. In terms of protection, reports suggest the phone would feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back panels. Samsung’s Galaxy S22 launch event is rumored to take place on the 8th of February, 2022. We expect to learn more about the new trio as we inch closer to that date. Going by what we know so far, the Galaxy S22 Note could be the smartphone to beat in 2022.
