Per the leaked materials, the Galaxy Tab A8 sees some minor design changes over its predecessor. Samsung appears to have opted for sharper edges this time around, with a flatter frame and less rounded corners. The holes, ports, and buttons mostly retain their respective positions though. The bottom edge (when the device is held in portrait orientation) still features dual speakers with a USB Type-C port sandwiched in-between. Two more speakers can be found at the top, with a microphone. The 3.5mm headphone jack also doesn’t change its position at the bottom, neither does the SIM tray on the left. And as you might have guessed, we have the power button and the volume controls on the right side, along with an additional microphone. On the back, there’s the Samsung logo written sideways (not if you hold the tablet in landscape orientation). The Galaxy Tab A8 still features only one rear camera, but the company has opted for a circular camera bump over the rounder square one on last year’s model. If you move to the front, you’ll notice sizeable bezels all around the display. Samsung seemingly didn’t bother reducing the bezels. There’s a single front-facing camera that will be looking straight at you when the device is in landscape orientation.
Galaxy Tab A8 leaked specs
While the Galaxy Tab A8 expectedly doesn’t see drastic changes in design, don’t be hopeful of much-improved internals either. The device is said to keep the same 10.4-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution. It is likely the same TFT LCD panel. The single rear-facing camera is also reportedly unchanged from the 8-megapixel sensor. We aren’t betting on improvements in the front-camera department either. A 5-megapixel selfie camera is likely all the Galaxy Tab A8 will get. With a reported dimension of 246.7 x 161.8 x 6.9mm (8.7mm with the camera bump), the Galaxy Tab A8 appears to have a slightly smaller footprint than its predecessor. Hopefully, that’s not at the cost of s smaller battery. Last year’s model packed a 7,040 mAh battery, with 15W fast charging. Any improvements in this area will be highly appreciated. We are also hoping that Samsung will replace the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor with a more recent and advanced one. The company will also do good to offer up to 128GB of storage. Last year’s model topped up at 64 gigs. The Galaxy Tab A7 came in both LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants. The story should be the same this year as well.
