As of this writing, the Android 12 update is rolling out to the Galaxy Tab S6 LTE on T-Mobile and Sprint networks. The new OTA (over the air) package comes with firmware version T867USQU7DVD2. It also bundles the March 2022 Android security patch, which isn’t the most up-to-date but a fairly recent one. The latest update brings tons of new features and enhancements to the aging Samsung tablet. Samsung’s Material You dynamic theming-inspired Color Palette feature adds a whole new layer of personalization to the device. You can now match the color scheme of your system UI elements with your wallpaper. Android 12’s privacy dashboard is part of this package too. The Galaxy Tab S6 LTE is also getting new privacy indicators that notify you whenever an app accesses the microphone or camera. You can revoke access to the microphone and camera for all apps at once. Other highlights of the new software package include an enhanced dark mode, new widgets, improved AoD (always-on display), Grammarly-integrated Samsung Keyboard, improved Bixby and Bixby Routines, improved Samsung Health, new personalization features, updated stock apps, and much more.

Android 12 should be the last major OS update for the Galaxy Tab S6

Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S6 in mid-2019. The flagship tablet came with Android 9 Pie on board. It has since picked up updates to Android 10 and Android 11. Now, the device is making the jump to Android 12 as well. But this could very well be the last big Android update for the aging Samsung tablet. It likely won’t get Android 13. The Korean firm has promised four generations of Android updates for some of its devices, but the Galaxy Tab S6 is not one of them. It’s only eligible for three major Android OS updates, which it has already received. The tablet will still get security updates for at least one more year though. Nonetheless, if you’re using the Galaxy Tab S6 LTE in the US, you should be receiving the Android 12 update anytime now if you haven’t already. Your tablet will notify you of the OTA rollout once available. You can also go to Settings > Software update on your device and tap on Download and install to check for the update manually.
