Need a break while you prep all those vegetables for Thanksgiving dinner? Google has your back with the Disney+ support on its range of smart displays. Which the company just announced today. It’s also possible to launch Disney+ content with just your voice. So you can say Ok Google and then tell it to play a show or movie from the streaming service.
Disney+ content on smart displays is rolling out now
The availability is there starting today in select markets. You’ll need a Google Assistant-powered smart display to access these new features. Obviously. This includes the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max, the Lenovo Smart Displays, and the JBL Link View. There may also be others that have access to it. These are just the ones that come from bigger brands that will no doubt be included. If you don’t feel like using your voice to navigate through the Disney+ library, you can always cast it first. As a little reminder, smart displays have the Chromecast technology built-in. So they work as devices that you can cast content to. Like you would with Netflix to your TV for example. If you prefer this method, this allows you to get your content up on the screen before you start doing whatever you’re doing in the kitchen. Or wherever you have the smart display set up at.
Perfect timing
This really is the perfect time for Google to come out with this feature for its smart displays. Disney+ already has a wealth of content available on it. With more on the way in the coming weeks and months. But the reason this is perfect timing is because The Mandalorian season 2 releases very soon. Season 1 was one of the most watched shows in streaming. And it’s arguably one of it not the most popular piece of content on Disney+. And now, users of smart displays will have one more way to watch the upcoming new season. Though you may not want to watch all of the episodes on a smart display, due to the size and its likely placement, it’s surely going to be nice to have the option. In addition to Disney+, smart display owners can also watch content from Netflix. As well as other apps like YouTube.
