The Motorola Moto X40 is quite a powerful smartphone, needless to say. A lot of info about it surfaced prior to this launch event too, so we basically knew what to expect. The device is made out of metal and glass. It includes a curved display, with a centered display camera hole. Its bezels are very thin, and there are three cameras on the back.

The Motorola Moto X40 includes a 165Hz OLED display, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

The Motorola Moto X40 features a 6.67-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) OLED display. This is a 165Hz panel, and it’s a 10-bit display, by the way. It supports DC dimming, and it’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus. The display is also curved, as mentioned earlier. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 fuels this smartphone, Qualcomm’s latest and greatest chip. Motorola also included 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM on the inside. The 8GB RAM model comes with either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. The 12GB RAM model includes either 256GB or 512GB of storage. Android 13 comes pre-installed here, with MYUI 5.0 skin in China. There are two SIM card slots included, two nano SIM card slots. Motorola also included Bluetooth 5.3 here, the phone supports 5G connectivity, and it’s also IP68 certified.

125W charging is supported, as is 15W wireless charging & 15W reverse charging

A 4,600mAh battery sits on the inside, and the phone supports 125W TurboPower fast wired charging. 15W wireless charging is also supported here, as is 15W reverse charging. A 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.55” sensor, OIS) sits on the back, along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (2.5cm macro option). On top of that, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera (Sony’s IMX663 sensor, 2x optical zoom) is also placed back there. On the front, you’ll find a 60-megapixel selfie camera. The Motorola Moto X40 has stereo speakers, and supports Dolby Atmos. The phone measures 161.3 x 73.9 x 8.5mm, while it weighs 197 grams. It comes in Smoky Black and Tourmaline Blue color options.

The most expensive variant costs barely over $600 in China

The Motorola Moto X40’s base 8GB RAM model with 128GB of storage is priced at CNY3,999 ($487) in China. The most expensive variant with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs CNY4,299 ($617). We’re not sure when exactly will the global variant arrive, but it’s almost certainly coming in 2023.
