April security patch starts rolling out to the OnePlus 9 & 9 Pro
Do note that those are the only two entries in the changelog. The firmware version is marked as ‘C.48’, and it’s currently rolling out to India only. Other markets are expected to follow soon, though. The update itself weighs 147MB, so it’s not exactly huge. It’s coming OTA (Over-The-Air), though it could take a bit of time to arrive to your phone. This is a staged rollout we’re talking about, of course. You can install it manually, if you want. Download files for incremental updates from OxygenOS C.46 and C.47 updates are available over at XDA Developers. Once again, do note that these are updates for the Indian OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro models. Other markets could start getting the update at any time, so keep your eyes peeled. You can also manually check whether the update is available on your phone, of course. You can do that from the phone’s ‘Settings’, by navigating to the ‘About Phone’ section and checking from there. The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are no longer the company’s flagship smartphones. They were until the OnePlus 10 Pro launched. Both of those phones are still immensely powerful, though, and not far from the OnePlus 10 Pro in terms of performance.
OxygenOS 12 is based on Android 12
OnePlus pushed out Android 12 to both devices earlier, as OxygenOS 12 is based on Android 12. OxygenOS 12 also reminds us a lot of ColorOS, though OnePlus may change that with OxygenOS 13, we’ll see. Despite the fact it looks like ColorOS, we didn’t have any notable issues with either phone. Many people seem to have had some bugs with both of them, but that wasn’t the case with our units. The OnePlus 9 did get the update quite late, though, as we skipped the original update which arrived months ago, due to the sheer amount of bugs. Both builds should be fairly stable now.
